Phase III: Continuing Care & Follow-Up
Coming to JTC is about making changes in your life. Helping you maintain these changes is the focus of Continuing Care.
Problem Substance Abuse Programs
Weekly Group Sessions
- Weekly sessions, offered twice each week, which provide continuing assistance
to women in maintaining their new healthy lifestyle
- The focus is on supporting women with their recovery choices, dealing with
issues in their lives, and offering referrals when needed to additional external
resources
- Participants are encouraged to give peer support to one another, and problem-solve
issues together
- JTC staff counsellors facilitate weekly groups

Follow-Up Monitoring
- Every three months for two years, volunteer staff telephone past program participants
to maintain contact and monitor their progress
- This follow-up also helps in evaluating the success of specific treatment
programs

Family Group Sessions
- Weekly evening sessions which help family members and support persons assist
women who have completed Phase II and are continuing their recovery
- JTC staff counsellors facilitate these weekly groups

Trauma Program
- Many women who struggle with substance abuse or problem gambling have a
history of physical and/or sexual abuse during childhood, or currently live
in situations where they are at risk, which may have a profound impact on
their daily well-being
- JTC provides individual counseling for women with a history of physical
and/sexual abuse; available to women who have completed Phase II and are
enrolled in a Phase III program, and have other therapeutic supports in place
- The focus of the program is on recovery from trauma and substance abuse
/ gambling
- Participants must complete an assessment prior to beginning trauma counselling
