Our Philosophy

The vision of the Jean Tweed Centre is to be one of the most innovative, accessible and effective centres responding to the needs of women with substance abuse and gambling problems and their families.

Our mission is to provide counseling and care to assist each woman to restore herself to a meaningful life within her community.

Recognizing the diversity of women's experience in today's society, our programs seek to address a range of issues in a woman's life that may contribute to substance use and gambling problems.

How We Help

Using a variety of approaches, our programs and services help women and their families:

• Understand the seriousness of substance-abuse and problem-gambling issues, and how these issues have affected their lives and the lives of those around them
• Gain healthy skills that reinforce a positive lifestyle change
• Develop coping strategies to support this lifestyle change
• Provide specific skills related to parenting
• Obtain onsite childcare and child-development services
